New feature changes in Vyew

Collaborators now have fewer rights

Changes in Vyew that affect you

  1. Collaborators can only edit/delete their own objects and cannot delete pages

We have removed some rights of the “Collaborator” usertype because we felt that Collaborators should be contributors of content and ideas, and the editorial work should be left to the moderators/owners. So as of tomorrow Collaborators can’t edit or delete drawings, images, or text created by other users.

If you trust your participants enough to let them delete other peoples content, then you should make them a Moderator.

  2. New Voice Server

We have deployed a new VOIP (Push To Talk) server that more stable and reliable. We are interested in your feedback on how much better (or not better) it is.

  3. The Vyew Public API

If you are a developer and have an web app of your own, it can now interact with VyewBooks. More Info

  1. Hi Vyew people,

Thanks so much for a great product!

On this page [New feature changes in Vyew], the subheading “Collaborators now have less rights” is ungrammatical in standard English.
Since “rights” are countable, “less” should read “fewer”. “Collaborators now have less authority” for example would be ok since “authority” in this sense is not countable.

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

  2. Hey,
I’m an educator, so the previous comment appealed to me as well as did your response to it. There is also the need to add the word “is” in point #2 between the word “that” and the word “more.” I offer copy editing to corporate clients if you guys would be interested :-). This is my first time using your products and I am very impressed. Wish we could have larger participant numbers, but hopefully that will come in time. Thanks again!

Is there an eraser tool as I Would like to use the “eraser” on the pen that came with my Wacom tablet.

Not at this time, just the delete tool, which is like a “click on object to erase” tool. The eraser for a wacom is a good idea we’ll consider adding it.

First, I’d like to say that I LOVE your product and so do the students in our class.

    However, I have a small wish list…

In Vyew 4.0, I wish you had kept the feature (as in version 3.0) to save and upload text for meeting invitations.

I wish there was a way to schedule recurring webinars instead of having to do this manually. All I’d have to edit were the participants.

I wish scheduled meetings would automatically convert to participants’ time zone upon receipt.

I wish I could record class sessions so that those who missed training could view and hear recording.

Thanks. All good ideas. For sure the timezone thing is a must. Its not in our old version but will be in our new one. Recurring meetings…. maybe. For now you’ll have to edit the date of the scheduled meeting each time. Recording… yes eventually.
