Browser test Unity and FMS failures

When running the browser test at https://vyew.com/site/browsertest/, I receive “All connections failed” message for “Unity connection test”.  I also receive timeouts for all 6 Flash Media Server connectivity tests.

Java and Flash appear to be detected properly.  I am using Java version 1.6.0 and Flash version 9.0.152.  My browser is Firefox version 3.0.5, and my system is running Kubuntu 8.04 amd64.

How can I resolve the browser test failures?

Respectfully,
Justin

P.S. I am really looking forward to using this tool!

I will have to check on this tomorrow. in the mean time, try going to a guest vyewbook, or your own vyewbook to see if you can get in. does it work?

Thanks for looking into this.

I created a test VyewBook, and I am able to use most of the features successfully.  The feature that does not appear to work is Desktop Sharing.  The applet runs in a process external to the browser; however, I receive “Problem loading Java” in the browser.

I have attached a screen grab.  You can see the applet running along the top, and the problem message is visible in the browser.

Thanks,
Justin

I’m not sure if this is related to your problems or not, but there’s no amd64 version of Flash 9, only an alpha version of Flash 10 officially supports amd64. I haven’t personally used it, so I can’t give much advice on it. More information can be found here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/

The next thing I’d look into is any firewall stuff you may have setup either on your desktop, or on a separate machine between you and the internet. For optimal performance, the application needs to be able to make outgoing TCP connections on ports 9100,9101, and 1935. In addition, for the desktop sharing to work at all, the two modules communicate over a local TCP socket (only goes through your local machine, does not go out over the internet) on port 59459. Check your firewall logs to see if any of these are being blocked.

NOTICE—NEED TO UPDATE YOUR FIREWALL SETTINGS

We have added new servers in other locations, so anyone who modified their firewall settings to allow Vyew to work needs to change their settings so that outgoing requests ANY IP ADDRESSES over ports 9100,9102,1935 are let through.
