I work on a number of committees and standards bodies that could really benefit from Vyew.  But one thing we need is a speakers’ queue: a way for participants to request to speak, and for moderators to recognize them in the right order.  You could use chat to do this, but then you’d be forever scrolling through to see what’s up.

You could use another button like the beep button down below the chat window.  It makes a sound and also puts “ATTENTION” in the chat window.  How about something like that that put an icon next to your name in the participant list, with a number indicating the queue?

This feature is obviously crucial in a system that provides only half-duplex audio. Look how nicely is implemented in FlashMeeting <http://fm.ea-tel.eu>.

We do have handraising, but maybe it would be useful then to know who raised their handfirst...?
Like put a number next to the raised hand icon?

Well, in FM you can see a number representing the ordering, and also an automatic mechanism that gives the audio to the next in the queue automatically as soon as the current speaker ends the conversation by releasing the push-to-talk button.
BTW, I couldn’t see how you do raise your hands in Vyew.
cheers

Raising your hand is in the userlist. Click on your own name, then you can change your status.
Maybe this should be its own button in the userlist to make it more obvious.

As a moderator I never see hand raised :-(
I guess that this is a bug; or is it by design?

I would like the option to suspend handraising and allow people to talk at will. In small group training or discussion I found it very inhibiting that one had to hand permission off to a participant every time they wanted to talk.
Is it not possible for more than one person to talk at once. Or is that what teleconferencing is all about.

The hand raising is actually completely independant of any other features. its just a simple flag that users can notify the speaker with.

If you have users in your room who are VIEWERS, they can click “Push To Talk” and you will be asked if you would like to allow them to speak or not.

If you user is a COLLABORATOR or above, they can speak at will.

More than one speaking at once:
In VOIP conferencing we only allow one at a time because uniplex produces higher quality audio then duplex since it takes half the bandwidth. Also with duplex, there is a tendancy for novice users to produce echoes and feedback when their speakers or mics arent adjusted properly.

If you are looking for full duplex, its better to use our phone conferencing option.

@EFranconi :

I just tried it and when a user raises their hand, all users can see it.
are you just saying that its hard to see, or you cant see it at all?
its a bug if you cant see it at all.
