As some may know, we are using Vyew for the 18 webcast sessions of World Usability Day (http://www.worldusabilityday.org) 14 Nov 2006.

Some of our presenters have asked about recording the audio of their sessions.  I know this is possible with the PRemium version of HighSpeedConferencing.  But is there any other way of doing this, using the built-in voice conference feature in Vyew?

Sorry for the delay in response,

We do not support recording of sessions right now although it is something we are working on.
We will let everyone know as soon as it is available.

You should be able to use Camtasia Studio to record sessions. Although I haven’t tried it with Vyew, it works very well with other conferencing products. You just need to set up Camtasia to record the audio from “stereo mix”, and you’ll need to unmute your microphone in your Windows playback volume (it is normally muted by default so you don’t hear your own voice).

There is a free trial version of Camtasia, and after that it costs $300. There are a number of free alternatives (e.g. Camstudio) but none of them record from stereo mix, so Camtasia is the only one I’ve found that will actually work for recording a web conference.
