I know that as the Provider I need Java 1.5 to make Desktop Sharing work. My question is do the folks that log in and watch as Viewers also need Java 1.5 for this to work? I know that everyone needs Flash 9.

Only the host needs Java, the clients only need flash9. This is the same as with Mac and Linux.

Christopher,

Great! Your product is awesome! I have been familiarizing myself with it for a few days and will be conducting a trial with a few friends in a few days. We are part of a volunteer organization here in Austin, TX, and do lots of training and other types of meetings. I am pretty confident that your technology will be perfect for some of our needs.

Thanks,
Bruce

There seems to be a difficulty wit Java on 64 bit machines as a host on Ubuntu when using desktop sharing

I used Flash 11 and jdk 6 for java

(Command to install jdk on Ubuntu apt-get install openjdk-6-jre).

Here is the error

When you open Desktop share Java gives an error saying “There was a problem requesting the Java applet Developers note: you must run this remotely”

When I run the system using CentOS using Flash 11 (64 bit) and the current openjdk package everything works until i open a room.  When the room opens the toolbar is printed ok, but the user desktop shows the boxes correctly, but the characters are not printing correctly.

I am trying to get Desktop sharing working with CentOS6, Ubuntu and SuSe (current versions) If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Thanks

“There was a problem requesting the Java applet. (Developer note: you must run this remotely)”.

Any solutions?

Hey I just figured out the There was a problem requesting the Java applet Developers note: you must run this remotely part. I didn’t really have Java installed. When I followed this howto:

http://www.puppychau.com/archives/101

to install Java, then this howto to install the plugin on Firefox:

I no longer got the error message and I can share screens.
